How to check your Mac’s Storage/HDD usage in 2023

This is a follow-up to my 2021 article — Things have changed since then

So now you no longer have the old settings screen that we are used to. With the recent macOS updates, the settings look like what you would find in iOS and iPadOS.

So my previous article on checking storage/hdd usage no longer applies if you have upgraded your macOS since then.

There are two ways to check your storage usage.

First is the roundabout way - to click on the apple icon at the top left corner → About This Mac → More Info. This should bring up the settings screen which looks like what you have in iOS/iPadOS. Then click General → Storage to review the storage.

But the easier way is to do ⌘ + Spacebar (space key) on your keyboard to bring up the spotlight search. Type “Storage” and then click/select the first item in the list. This should take you to the storage settings screen as well.

Hope this helps!
